Mesiniaga Survivor Challenge 0n 7 - 9 November 2008

I just got back from my first (n maybe last) team building with Mesiniaga. The theme is Mesiniaga Survivor Challenge and we are the 7 batch. From my unit, only 7 people participated. Other half was not joining due to multiple reasons, most of it because of pregnancy. It's a 3 days and 2 nights event. We departed from Mesiniaga about 4.55 pm by bus and arrived at DePalma, Kuala Selangor around 6.15++pm. We got our keys in the bus before proceed to our chalet.

The chalet is in okay condition. I shared my room with Lin and Balkqis. The room have 2 singles bed and 1 queen with separated bathroom and toilet.

Overall, i learned a lot of things from this team building. The objectives more or a less the same with the last team building i went with Padusoft previously. We learned about teamwork, communication, leardership etc. But this time around, I'll get to know and worked with people I don't know. And i think i learn a lot more from this team building because i learn from doing it. I like Training Touch approach. All the session/games mostly involved physical + logical + mind and at the end of every session, we got to know strength and weaknesses of ourselves and individual from our team. It's not about 1 people but it's involved everybody in the team. Every strength + weakness make us a great team if we knows how to use it to compliment each others.

One of the games that I like and learned a lot from it was the puzzle block. What we learned from it are focus, learned others people mistakes and prohibit doing the wrong thing all over again. If you stuck, find another way to get around. It had to be a workaround and don't be a stubborn to used the same path all over again after mistakes over mistakes and hoping it leads to success even though the road had been blocked. If one person already going thru the same path to success, what we got to do was observed how they do it and follow the same path. It must be easier than trying to find your own path without knowing what is in front of you.

Others session also a good session. Like the one when we was building a hut. Even though along the way you know that something wrong with the hut, but still we not stopping and thinking about what went wrong but instead we still building. At the end, the hut is falling down. If we apply in real life, it might lead to disaster. We should check back our past and amend it before it's too late. We should take action before things get worse and if we find an error, don't keep it to ourselves because maybe other people around you doesn't realize it. But when it fall down at the end, there's nothing you can do and the harm already done.

In all the games, planning is very important. You should take control when you see other people around you is confused, don't know what to do or go to different direction. Understand the rules and think out of the box. Please speak your opinion because who knows, it might lead you team to success.

Overall, i become the different person when I'm with my tribe. I think maybe because in my tribe (Paragon), everybody willing to listen and there is no dominant personality in it. Everybody have their own roles in it and we make a great team together. Not a very strong team thou but we managed to standing till the last 2 tribe (we never been eliminated even though there is one time we closed to elimination when got 2 vote out of total 5 vote). I like it when everybody willing to listen and gave feedback (for true paragon only). It easier to managed a small group of people, but when it getting bigger (when other group been eliminated, team member will be divided into remaining group), it's kind of hard.

The final round is the hardest one for me because i don't have the skill playing cubic cube. It hard to watch people doing task for you, and you helplessly standing beside them doing nothing. It really suck. We lost at the final round but the winner is the MESINIAGA tribe, all of us is the winner. Because we helped each other unlock the key to success.
